Ides of Time
61
Crashing waves down upon the bow
Deep furrows dark across my brow
Sun bitten sting of salt in wounds
Sailing blindly into the darkened hue
Strange songs serenade from the sea
Calling me to the depths of disbelief
Cymbals crashing like angry waves
A cacophony of memory reaching from the grave
Ides of time for me are marching
My last parade to Pompey
Ides of time for me are watching
In my own kingdom betrayed
Ides of time for me are unchanging-
The prophet says there is no end
Ides of time are strangely setting
A dark sunset painted in red
The prophet cried, “kings would fall”
Beware the Ides in Caesar’s hall
Flowers of spring bloom tragedy
My name now forever in litany
The crashing waves pull me down
The faces of fallen kings surround
Surreal now was it just a dream?
What was it the prophet said to me…
Ides of time for me are marching
My last parade to Pompey
Ides of time for me are watching
In my own kingdom betrayed
Ides of time for me are unchanging
The prophet says there is no end
Ides of time are strangely setting
A dark sunset painted in red

Wow! You outdid yourself with this poem! I could hear the tempo growing louder as I read through the stanzas. Your rhyming is fabulous! Very well done!
