Poetic Justice

Poetic Justice
by Chad Taylor
The reaching of something unseen
Searching through the faces unwilling to believe
Voices from the banisters cry death to the dream
dead to their own they lie broken at their feet-
Hearts gone cold
Dreams grown old
The colors rusted-
Now only a poem remains
Love unchanged
She cries, "justice"
Now I break away from the din of voices
I run through the field of thorns searching for roses
I can feel the hands of doubt reaching below us-
They all say the same thing, "Ashes to ashes dust to dust"
Faces gone pale
Life's grown stale
Their hearts are rusted-
Only a poem will deliver
You can hear it whisper
"Give me justice"
I surrender now to the mountain and what lies ahead
I see the images parade back as I lay awake in bed
Restless now, my heart sees the dreams and desires un-wed
The angels stand still holding love un-confessed-
Now I rest..
Hearts like horses
Silence the voices
Only love can be trusted
Now the words are written
A soul is smitten
"Give me justice"

Very good poem with some deep passionate yearnings without end. I have written a poem on the same subject titled "The Other Side of the Cross" a poem of poetic justice on my hub. I invite you to give it reading and perhaps your comments. Good read!!

This could be a verse in a song:
Hearts like horses
Silence the voices
Only love can be trusted
Now the words are written
A soul is smitten
"Give me justice"
As usual, I like your work. This particular poem: Have you revised it at all, since its first draft?
