A Sidewalk's Story
49
A thousand feet have danced at once
to a rhythm of cars and trucks
leaving behind only echoes
of the places they had to go
In the shadows of concrete and glass
looming so tall above the rest
an icon of human progress
marching one step at a time
Doorways silently watch
changing guard in the night
beckoning in the morning
for the strangers to come inside
No apologies, no sentiments, only silence.
A mute witness
to human progress-
only footprints left behind

chad ... You've got it, man. I mean, a poem about concrete that actually manages to stir the soul? Amazing!
I really liked this one! It captured the heart of a city, through the eyes of doorways and sidewalks.
