The Stones They Throw
by Chad Taylor

In the courts of judgment
retribution stands
eyes of accusation
with stones in their hands-

Sin lies there naked
no dignity - no pride
at the hand's of her accusers
she has already died...

Cast down at Mercy's feet
He stoops and writes in the sand
she looks up desperately
into the eyes of the Son of Man-

He looks at her
as if He can see right through
His finger in the dirt writing
"Daughter, I love you..."

In the courts of judgment
no one is alone
let him that has no sin
be the first to cast the stone-

From the eldest to the youngest
they leave the judgment seat
the stones a silent witness
to the nails in His hands and feet...

The rocks that men throw
are only their own
the sin and the shame
that they cannot atone-

The handwritten ordinances
were nailed to the cross
every one blotted out
by the blood that He lost...

At His feet you and I lie
He looks and sees right through
writing in the sand still
"My child, I love you..."

Wow!Chad, I absolutely love your style. You stole my heart with this one. It is from my favorite passage of scripture. Oh where would we be without His mercy and grace but lying dead in the sand, buried in a grave too shallow to shield us from the fury of hell.

I am blown away!

True talent of an inspired poet. Absolutely breathtaking, each verse stands out, with even flow that captures the reader with enhanced imagery. Very thought provoking as well,

it's a poem that the reader jumps into for the read, being taken away to another place. I'm a fan!!!!

Very touching and the similiarities to being in court are very clever.

If this one isn't published traditionally, then you haven't sent it out! (Well, it needs the hand of an editor first...) I'll be HAPPY to edit for you ... and then get this PUBLISHED! It is superb (and I usually don't like anything with a religious slant).

Bravo.
